Head lice are one of the most annoying and difficult-to-treat conditions a parent or school administrator can face. While lice are not considered to be a public health threat, they can tarnish the reputation of a business and create headaches at home.

In our previous post, we took an in-depth look at some of the most common questions we receive at our lice treatment center. In today’s post, we’ll continue to answer your questions about head lice prevention and treatment.

Head Lice Questions Continued

Where Did My Child Get Head Lice?

If your child is enrolled in a public school or participates in after-school sports, then it’s highly likely that your child was exposed to lice in one of these locations. As we noted in our previous post, children between the ages of 3 and 11 are highly likely to catch head lice due to contact with other children. You can minimize the risk of a head lice infestation by telling your child to keep their helmet separate from everyone else’s, and to avoid sharing combs and hats.

Which Lice Shampoo Is the Most Effective?

Many of the lice shampoos available on today’s market are made using harsh chemicals that eliminate lice while also damaging hair follicles. Our lice treatment center proudly utilizes non-toxic, all-natural lice treatments that do not contain any of the harmful chemicals found in over-the-counter lice treatments. You’ll never have to worry about skin irritation, hair loss, or excessive dryness when you use our products!

Will I Need to Treat My Entire Home?

It’s a common misconception that the entire home needs to be treated when lice are discovered. Lice have evolved to cling to human hairs, and they have a difficult time surviving on their own. Head lice will survive for roughly 48 hours without a host, so you do not have to worry about a long-term infestation developing in your home. Wash your sheets, bedding, and pillowcases, and be sure to vacuum your couches and the surrounding areas just in case any lice have made their way into your home. Make sure that everyone in your home has been inspected at our lice treatment center, and continue to use our lice prevention products until the problem has resolved. Remember, we offer unlimited inspections for up to 30 days after your initial inspection, so please don’t hesitate to come back and see us for a follow-up!
